The Second Star Will Shine in Seville and Oviedo

Fresh from lifting the FIFA World Cup in the United States and now back at the top of the FIFA World Rankings, Spain has already turned its attention to its next challenge: the UEFA Nations League, where Luis de la Fuente's side will compete in League A, Group A3.

The newly earned second star will make its first appearance on Spanish soil in a competition that holds special memories for La Roja, having lifted the trophy in 2023 and finished runners-up in 2025. Seville and Oviedo will provide the stage for Spain's first home fixtures as reigning world champions.

Seville Welcomes the World Champions

Spain will begin its Nations League campaign on 26 September with a visit to the iconic Wembley Stadium to face England. Three days later, on 29 September, the world champions will play in front of their home supporters for the first time since their World Cup triumph, taking on Croatia at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán in Seville (20:45 CET) on Matchday Two.

The fixture marks Spain's return to Sevilla FC's stadium for the first time in 11 years, made possible through the collaboration of the Regional Government of Andalusia, the Ministry of Culture, Heritage and Sport, the Royal Andalusian Football Federation, and the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

It will be Spain's 26th international at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán. Their most recent appearance came in March 2015, when they defeated Ukraine 1–0 in a UEFA European Championship qualifier.

Spain also boasts an impressive record against Croatia, with seven wins, one draw and three defeats in their 11 previous meetings. Their latest encounter ended in a commanding 3–0 victory for Luis de la Fuente's side during the group stage of UEFA Euro 2024.

Oviedo Hosts Spain Once Again

The international window continues on 3 October, when Spain travels to Oviedo to face the Czech Republic at the Nuevo Carlos Tartiere (20:45 CET).

The national team will return to the home of Real Oviedo 11 years after its last visit, when it secured a 2–0 victory over Slovakia in a UEFA European Championship qualifier. The return of the national side to the Asturian capital has been made possible through the support of the Principality of Asturias, Oviedo City Council, and the Football Federation of the Principality of Asturias.

Spain has played seven matches in Oviedo, recording five victories, one draw and just one defeat.

Against the Czech Republic, Spain remains unbeaten in seven previous meetings, with five wins and two draws. Their most recent encounter came in the 2022 UEFA Nations League, ending in a 2–0 Spanish victory during the campaign that ultimately saw La Roja lift the trophy.

The international break will conclude with an away fixture against Croatia on 6 October (20:45 CET).
