The Spanish National Team Has Set Foot in German Territory
After a three-hour flight and an hour on the bus, the team is now in the German town of Viernheim, settled into their camp hotel before the opening match of the final against Germany.
The German hosts welcomed the Spanish players with extremely low temperatures, icy winds, and light rain. The flight, which took off shortly after 4:30 p.m., landed at Frankfurt Airport close to 7:00 p.m. From Germany’s fifth-largest city, the team continued by bus to Viernheim, a small industrial town on the outskirts of Mannheim, in the Bergstraße district of Hesse. Despite the cold, some fans still came out to greet the team and show their support.
Sonia Bermúdez’s squad, who completed their official training session this morning in Las Rozas, will speak to the media at their hotel, with the head coach and Olga Carmona attending.
Tomorrow, Friday, at 8:30 p.m. at the Fritz-Walter-Stadion in Kaiserslautern, Spain and Germany will face off in the first of the two matches that make up the UEFA Women’s Nations League final.
