The World Champions Are Home

Spain have arrived back in Madrid after being crowned FIFA World Cup champions for the second time in their history, following Sunday's 1-0 victory over Argentina in the final in New York/New Jersey.

The national team's delegation returned to Spain aboard an Iberia Airbus A350, which departed Newark Liberty International Airport at 02:00 local time before touching down at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport at 14:30 CEST, bringing to an end the happiest journey home imaginable for the newly crowned world champions.

Leading the arrival were Spain captain Rodri, who was also named the tournament's Golden Ball winner, head coach Luis de la Fuente and Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) president Rafael Louzán. The trio were the first to step off the aircraft, proudly carrying the FIFA World Cup Trophy.

The celebrations will continue throughout the afternoon with the traditional official receptions at the Zarzuela Palace and the Moncloa Palace.

Spain will then parade through the streets of the capital alongside thousands of supporters before arriving at Plaza de Cibeles, where the official victory celebration will take place. The event will feature the entire squad, live music and a host of special surprises as the players celebrate the nation's second FIFA World Cup title with fans from across Spain.
