The game room, a place with a great atmosphere
At the Spanish national team's base camp, there is time for everything. For the technical staff, it is just as important for the players to work hard in the training sessions as it is for them to have time for leisure, which is essential to unwind, foster a good atmosphere and team spirit. There is plenty of that in this team, which has a great internal cohesion and is ready for the round of last 16 against Morocco (Tuesday 6 December, 16.00) after coming through the group stage.
The whole squad is aware of how demanding this World Cup is and the difficulties of the next match, but it is important for the players to find time to relax. For this reason, the Spanish Football Federation thought in details and set up a game room at the University of Qatar to make the group's day-to-day life more enjoyable.
There, laughter is guaranteed and the players have anything they need to be entertained. They play table tennis, foosball, billiards and darts a lot. Others prefer video games and there is also an air hockey table in the hall. A large area has been set up as well with a projector to follow the matches and the team does not miss any details of the other matches in the tournament.
The national team feels at home at the Qatar University, with spacious and comfortable facilities in addition to the aforementioned game room. For example, there is a large terrace next to the dining room where they can relax while chatting or having a cup of coffee. It is essential to find a balance between the demands of the competition and enjoyment during a long stage such as the World Cup.
