Right after the match, Sonia Bermúdez appeared in the press room to break down Spain’s performance.

On Aiara Agirrezabala’s debut:
“First of all, I told her to enjoy it. When you make your debut, that’s the most important thing. She came on with confidence—she even tried a backheel and a nutmeg. At 17, to attempt that in your first action says a lot about her personality. Of course, we need patience, but she’s a player with a big future ahead if everything goes well.”

On the match and a message for England:
“I haven’t seen the shooting stats yet, but I know we had 14 corners. I think we could’ve scored more. When you create that much and end up with five goals, it’s still not enough for us—the standards are high and we always want more. Coaches are like that, we’re always looking to improve. The main goal was the three points and scoring goals. Now we’ll take a breath and start thinking about England.”

On Vicky López’s impact:
“In the first half, they matched us closely in central areas because they had the energy to press. Ukraine deserve a lot of credit, especially given their situation. In the second half, we identified space behind their midfielders. We moved Vicky into a more advanced role so she could turn and attack the back line. We were more fluid, and as they dropped physically, we found more space. I liked both halves—we played very well.”

On the three headed goals:
“Yes, everything is trained. I would’ve liked more precision in the crosses, though. Their plan was to close central spaces and push us wide. With Edna, we have that physical presence in the box. We’ve got players for every game plan. The other day Esther was excellent—we’ve got plenty of attacking options.”

On María León’s role:
“She was very good. From the back, especially on the left side, she can break lines even under pressure. She sees passes others don’t, defends well, is strong in duels, and contributes in set pieces. She’s a very complete player. She had a great game. And María Méndez was also excellent—both of them performed at a very high level.”

On Lucía Corrales:
“We have different profiles in that position and others. I’ve said it before—the team is very versatile. Some players come short, others attack space. Depending on the game plan, you’ll see different players. Today we used full-backs who used to be wingers to create depth and allow players like Pina and Salma to move inside. I think it worked well.”
