“We will not hesitate against Japan”

Although one point against the Japanese team is enough for Spain to reach the round of 16, the internationals confirm that they will go for the victory

The Spanish national team is already concentrating on the match scheduled for next Thursday against the Japanese. After two days, the National Team leads Group E of the first phase of the World Cup with four points after beating Costa Rica (7-0) and drawing with Germany (1-1) in a beautiful and very intense duel. The situation looks promising and one point is enough for Spain in the last round. It is well-known that this team only knows how to go for the victory, that is not up for debate.

The Al Bayt mixed zone was packed to listen to the internationals after the battle with the Germans. Morata took the lead with a great goal and Germany retaliated in the final minutes, a result that left Luis Enrique's team very close to their intended outcome. It will be time to finish things off in the third duel of this World Cup which is proving to be full of surprises.

Dani Carvajal was one of the players who spoke to the media and summed up the feeling of the group after the draw against Germany. “A World Cup match, as they say. A Spain-Germany. The draw for us isn't that bad, really, and now we have to seal the qualification against Japan”. The full-back also remarked that Spain will go for it all against Japan, there is no other option: “We are going to win, to give 100% to finish first in the group. Let no one doubt that Spain will win against Japan”.

Rodrigo Hernández, the starter in both matches of the tournament is convinced that Spain will be up for the task against the Japanese, he also stated along the same lines: “The team does not hesitate at all, we are going to give everything they give us. We are going to try to win the game and that is what we are focused on.”

In this scenario, Spain will officially qualify if they win, and they will also do so as first in the group. If they tie, they will also reach the round of 16, but they would be second if Costa Rica beat Germany in the last game. If they lose, they will have to keep tabs on the result that occurs in Germany-Costa Rica: if the Ticos win, Spain would be eliminated. If the Europeans do it, they would have to achieve a very broad result for the National Team to stay out. Spain is +7 in goal difference and Germany -1.
