Work Completed with Iceland in Mind
After a week of training at the RCD Mallorca facilities, Spain held its final session in Palma this morning. Shortly before 11:00 a.m., and following a prior gym session, the players took to the pitch to prepare for Tuesday’s decisive fixture against Iceland.
In two days’ time, Spain will contest the sixth and final matchday of Group A3 in the qualifying phase for the FIFA World Cup Brazil 2027. Victory against Iceland is required to secure direct qualification, and this objective has shaped the team’s entire preparation.
Head coach Sonia Bermúdez and her technical staff oversaw a session structured on two levels: recovery and compensation following the match against England. Players who were not involved in the match at Estadi Mallorca Son Moix focused on specific preparation work ahead of the upcoming fixture against the side managed by Thorsteinn Halldórsson.
Iceland, currently third in the group, arrive in strong form following an away victory against Ukraine, secured by a goal from Pálmadóttir.
The Spanish delegation will depart this afternoon for Reykjavík, where they will complete their final preparations before the concluding match of this international window.
