World Champions Received by Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain and the Prime Minister

Fresh from their arrival in Madrid, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) delegation, led by president Rafael Louzán, visited Spain's highest state institutions as celebrations began following La Roja's second FIFA World Cup triumph.

The team's first stop was the Zarzuela Palace, where they were welcomed by the Royal Family: His Majesty King Felipe VI, Her Majesty Queen Letizia, Her Royal Highness Princess Leonor and Infanta Sofía. The Royal Family had also travelled to New York/New Jersey to support Spain and witnessed the victory over Argentina in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Final.

The official commemorative photograph was taken alongside the FIFA World Cup Trophy, while RFEF president Rafael Louzán presented the King with Spain's new shirt, proudly displaying its two World Cup stars.

Congratulating the squad, King Felipe VI said:

"Congratulations from the bottom of my heart. It has been an odyssey, a long journey and an epic triumph. You've endured difficult moments and overcome every challenge, but all of that pales in comparison with bringing the World Cup home. You showed resilience, courage and exceptional quality, combining intelligence with heart while remaining true to your style of play. You were a team in every sense of the word—united, generous and worthy champions. Those two stars will forever belong to Spain, and you are now a legendary team in the history of Spanish sport. Sixteen years later, thanks to you, Spain are world champions once again. We are world champions, just as we were in 2023 and now again in 2026. Whenever our national team plays, the whole country plays with you. It was a privilege for the Royal Family to witness the final and to share with you the moment you lifted the trophy. On behalf of all Spain, thank you. Cherish every second, every smile from the supporters, every round of applause and every embrace that awaits you. You've earned every one of them."

The squad and RFEF delegation also shared the moment with the staff of the Zarzuela Palace, who applauded the newly crowned world champions.

The celebrations then continued at the Moncloa Palace, where the delegation was welcomed by Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, who had also attended the World Cup Final in the United States.

Addressing hundreds of supporters gathered at the Prime Minister's official residence, Rafael Louzán thanked fans across the country.

"Winning this second star belongs to all of Spain. The sense of unity we've experienced throughout the country has been the most wonderful part of this journey."

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez also congratulated the team.

"Welcome to the home of all Spaniards. I want to thank the players and coaching staff for your football, your effort and your victory. We've all enjoyed watching you immensely. Reaching a World Cup Final is never easy, and winning one is even harder. As Luis Aragonés used to say: finals aren't played—they're won. Let's hope we're competing for another star in 2030."

Following the official receptions, the players and coaching staff boarded an open-top bus for the victory parade through the streets of Madrid, sharing Spain's World Cup triumph with thousands of jubilant supporters on the way to Plaza de Cibeles.
