A very happy day for Irene Paredes

The captain of the Spanish National Football Team celebrated her birthday with her teammates in the middle of the training camp in preparation for the Olympic Games.

Irene Paredes has spent her last three birthdays with the Spanish national team. The captain, a native of Legazpi (Guipúzcoa), spent her recent 4th of Julys at the European Championship in England (2022), preparing for the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand (2023) and preparing for the Olympic Games (2024).

From early in the morning, you could tell it was a special day at the Spanish national team's training camp. The congratulatory songs dedicated to the captain followed one after another in different languages and places: corridors, bus, dressing room, gym... even in the room where the internationals had lunch. As if that wasn't enough, she was given a clapped by her team-mates before the start of the morning training session.

The captain was visibly happy on receiving so much affection: "They are different birthdays. Of course, I'd like to celebrate it with my family, but I'm where I want to be and I'm happy about that. Besides, this weekend I'll be able to celebrate with my family.
