A week of promoting Spanish football in the United States
Louzán concluded his institutional trip to Miami, where he met with authorities, clubs, and FIFA to promote the strength of Spanish football
- “We want to intensify alliances between the organisers of the 2026 and 2034 World Cups, through a triple axis of collaboration,” he stated.
- The goal: to benefit all of Spanish football, taking advantage of the powerful Spanish footballing brand on a global level.
Using the strength of the Spanish football brand worldwide to promote this sport both professionally and in terms of development has been the goal of RFEF president, Rafael Louzán, throughout his trip to the United States, coinciding with his attendance at the FIFA Summit and the parallel staging of the Club World Cup. Over five days, Louzán met with institutional dignitaries of the city, such as the county mayor, the mayor of Miami, and the Spanish consul, creating paths of collaboration and cooperation to strengthen Spanish football in the USA.
The president highlighted that 70 per cent of Miami’s population is Hispanic, “making us feel at home,” and he wished to thank all the authorities for “the great willingness they have shown towards Spanish football.” In addition, the president held various meetings, also with the Spanish Chamber of Commerce in Miami, and with Inter Miami. “We have been surrounded by the world of football, with people who love and welcome Spain, and I am convinced we can do great things in this place,” he said.
He also pointed out that, at this moment, the global reference point of football lies in the axis formed by the United States, Spain together with Portugal and Morocco, and Saudi Arabia, with three consecutive World Cups. “We want to strengthen this alliance, which will be very positive for football.” In summary, he affirmed that Spanish football is a very powerful brand worldwide and that these forums, including the FIFA summit, are precisely the platform required to achieve greater visibility and reach, he concluded.
