adidas unveil Spain’s away kit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup
• Spain’s new away kit draws inspiration from the country’s literary heritage and is designed to support player performance in extreme heat conditions.
• The iconic adidas Trefoil returns to the FIFA World Cup after 36 years, marking a collection inspired by 1990s aesthetics.
adidas today unveiled the Spain national team’s away kit for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, as part of the official launch of all away jerseys for its 25 partner federations.
The design of Spain’s new away kit takes inspiration from the country’s rich literary tradition. Set on an off-white base—evoking the colour of a page—the jersey features an all-over pyrite-toned pattern inspired by the illustrations and graphic elements found in classic books and manuscripts. The sleeves and collar incorporate gold and burgundy detailing, while the word “ESPAÑA” appears on the back of the collar, complete with the distinctive “Ñ”, celebrating the Spanish language and its cultural heritage.
With this launch, adidas reinforces its longstanding connection with football and the Spain national team through a garment that combines innovation, symbolism, and national identity on the game’s biggest stage.
Global launch of adidas’ 25 away kits
With the upcoming World Cup set to be hosted across three countries, adidas has unveiled the full collection for its 25 federations alongside Spain’s new kit. The designs reinterpret classic adidas FIFA World Cup™ aesthetics—such as geometric patterns and streamlined lines—through a contemporary lens, created to perform on the pitch while also connecting with fans both inside and outside the stadium.
The collection also marks a milestone for the brand, with the return of the Trefoil logo to the FIFA World Cup for the first time in 36 years. Positioned on the right chest, the symbol revives one of adidas’ most iconic design signatures at a time when football shirts increasingly transcend the pitch and the stands.
The entire range has been developed with performance in mind, aimed at supporting elite players in high-intensity moments and varying climatic conditions. To address extreme heat scenarios, adidas incorporates fabrics with mechanical stretch and 3D body-mapped construction, alongside CLIMACOOL+ materials engineered to enhance sweat-wicking and keep players dry for longer. The kits also feature jacquard fabric for a lighter finish and greater freedom of movement, as well as the signature three stripes on the shoulders applied using a herringbone pattern to improve breathability and ventilation.
Spain’s new away kit, along with the rest of adidas’ federation away jerseys, will be available globally from Friday, March 20 at 10:00 CET.
