Spanish national team players Aitana Bonmatí and Salma Paralluelo have been named in the IFFHS Team of the Year, as officially announced this Friday by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics.

This latest honour recognises the two Spanish attackers, who, alongside the rest of Montse Tomé’s team, secured Spain’s first UEFA Women’s Nations League title in February in Seville.

Aitana, who was named MVP of the Final Four and scored one of the two goals in the final, retains her spot in the IFFHS Team of the Year. She caps off a remarkable year in which she was once again named the best player in the world. Meanwhile, Salma solidifies her rising star status with this well-deserved recognition. Despite her youth, she is now considered one of the top attackers in women’s football following a year filled with titles at both club and national levels.

The IFFHS announcement comes just days after revealing the ranking of the best women’s football coaches, in which Montse Tomé was ranked second, behind Emma Hayes, the head coach of the United States.
