Aitana Bonmatí: "We’re in the semi-finals and making history"

The Player of the Match and proud semi-finalist at the Euro 2025. Aitana Bonmatí faced the press after the victory over Switzerland in the best possible spirits: “The atmosphere was incredible and I’m very happy to play in a packed out stadium,” the national team player began by saying.

An honest Aitana analysed the match against Switzerland: “At no point did I think it was impossible to win, we just had to stay calm and have confidence. We’re used to winning by a big margin in the first half, but real football isn’t like that. We have to trust in our abilities because as the tournament progresses, the amount of minutes starts to show.”

“I think we need to appreciate these moments because it seems like we’re expected to win 6-0 every time. We’re in the semi-finals and we’ve made history. I don’t care who we play next, may the best team win tomorrow. If it goes to extra time and they get tired, that wouldn’t be a bad thing,” Aitana joked.

The Catalan also took the opportunity to praise her opponents, the tournament hosts: “This Euros will always be remembered for its organisation, the people and the full stadiums. What we’re experiencing is something unique.”
