Al-Awwal box projects Spanish football’s brilliance

Representatives from the RFEF and both finalists take part in the official ceremony prior to the final.

The traditional act of exchanging commemorative gifts prior to the final of the Spanish Super Cup served to show the world Spanish football’s brilliance and an image of harmony between the participating clubs, the two most successful teams in our country.

Florentino Pérez, president of Real Madrid CF, and Joan Laporta, his counterpart at FC Barcelona, headed the representations of both clubs. The president of the RFEF Management Commission, Pedro Rocha, accompanied by the president of the Saudi federation, Yasser Al Misehal, hosted the event. Among the attendees was the Spanish ambassador to the country, Jorge Hevia.

The RFEF presented the Saudi Arabian Football Federation with a scale replica of the Super Cup trophy, which this year celebrates its 40th edition. Real Madrid, for their part, presented FC Barcelona with a reproduction of the new Santiago Bernabéu stadium; and the Catalan club presented the Madrid club with a silver sculpture of the FC Barcelona shield, an allegorical piece of work by Morral BCN.

During the event, total sportsmanship and a relaxed atmosphere prevailed between the representatives of the clubs, who wished each other luck for the match that was to start just a few minutes later.
