Almería will host the Spain - Switzerland U-21 match on March 24

The match to be played at the Power Horse Stadium will be Santi Denia's debut as U21 coach

The U21 national team will return to Almería, seven years later, to play a friendly match. On Friday, March 24, the team coached by Santi Denia will face Switzerland at the Power Horse Stadium. A match that will be possible thanks to the collaboration between the Royal Spanish Football Federation and the Royal Andalusian Football Federation with the Junta de Andalucía, the Diputación Provincial de Almería, the Almería City Council and UD Almería.

It will be a special match for Santi Denia. The coach from La Mancha takes over the baton from Luis de la Fuente, current senior national team coach, and will make his debut in this match at the head of the Spanish U-21 national team.

The match against Switzerland will serve as preparation for the European Championship of the category, which will be played in Georgia and Romania in the coming months of June and July. From all the institutions involved, the enthusiasm with which Almeria will receive this meeting of the U-21 national team, on the second occasion in which the national team will play in this stadium and the fourth time it will visit the city of Almeria, is highlighted.

The last precedent, in November 2015, ended with a resounding victory (5-0) against Georgia with goals from Deulofeu (3), Williams and Ceballos in a qualifying match for the 2017 European Championship of the category. More than 7,000 spectators enjoyed the present and future stars of our soccer at the Mediterranean Games Stadium, as they will do again on March 24.
