An unforgettable day in Melilla

Coach Luis de la Fuente visited the city of Melilla at the invitation of Diego Martínez, president of the Royal Football Federation of Melilla and the coach spent time with the various institutions and residents in the city.

The day began early with a visit to the illustrious Lawyers’ Bar Association where the national coach signed the institution's Book of Honour and received an Honorary mention from the Dean, Mr. Blas Jesús Imbroda for his ‘professional and personal qualities demonstrated both on and off the pitch’. There was also a small meeting in which values and commitment were discussed.

Afterwards, the national coach responded to the invitation and visited the Melilla General Command (COMGEMEL), where he spoke with some of the military personnel assigned to this service.

Afterwards, a visit to the headquarters of the Royal Melilla Football Federation to pay tribute to Rafael Lucena, one of the directors of the Federation who received the Federation's gold insignia for his dedication to football in Melilla.

The morning was rounded off with a visit to the President of the City of Melilla, Juan José Imbroda, with whom he held a private meeting before appearing together in the Golden Hall of the Assembly Palace where de la Fuente presented the President of the Autonomous City and the Minister of Education, Miguel Ángel Fernández, with national team jerseys bearing their respective names.

At this meeting, he was followed by a group of secondary school students from Galicia, who are currently in Melilla on an exchange visit.

In the afternoon, a visit to the sports facilities at La Espiguera, belonging to the Melilla Federation, at which the RFMF Foundation students received the Spanish national team coach, together with Miguel Ángel España, goalkeeping coach and member of the technical staff of the coach from La Rioja. He was also accompanied by the president of the Melilla Federation and several members of the RFMF Board of Directors, the President of the RFEF Coaches Committee, Iván Cancela and the director of the RFEF Coaching School, David Gutiérrez.

Afterwards, Luis de la Fuente went to the assembly hall in the Melilla Campus of the University of Granada where he held a discussion with football coaches from Melilla and students from the university.

Finally, the national coach visited the Government Delegate to whom he gave a T-shirt with his name as well as sharing a brief chat.
