At the King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah, Carlo Ancelotti and Lucas Vázquez held a press conference to share their thoughts ahead of the second Spanish Super Cup semi-final.

The Real Madrid player was the first to take his seat in front of the media: “Tomorrow is the first step towards winning the Spanish Super Cup, which is our goal for the week. What drives us is hunger and ambition,” he said.

The club’s third captain spoke in the leadership group about his pride in wearing the armband: “For me, it’s an honour to captain Real Madrid, something so many people dream of. It comes with both good and bad moments and is a great responsibility.”

He continued: “For us, this is a great opportunity to win a trophy. We want to beat Mallorca. We have an exciting year ahead with many challenges, and we’re going into it with great ambition.”

Regarding their opponents in tomorrow’s semi-final, he remarked: “Mallorca know exactly how they want to play. They’re a team that works well together and understands what to do both with and without the ball. They’ve been in excellent form this season.”

Finally, Lucas Vázquez shared his thoughts on playing in Jeddah: “For us, it’s always a pleasure to travel with Real Madrid around the world. We’re always warmly welcomed here, and tomorrow we’re expecting a great atmosphere in the stadium.”

Carlo Ancelotti then took the floor: “We have a lot of affection for Saudi Arabia. Our style won’t change regardless of where we play. Mallorca is a good team that will challenge us for a place in the final.”

On the first semi-final between Athletic Club and FC Barcelona, he admitted: “It’s going to be an entertaining match, and I’ll enjoy watching it because I’m a football lover.”

As for the Super Cup itself, Ancelotti commented: “It’s an important competition because it’s the first of the year. Whenever we’ve won it, it’s given us a lot of motivation. We hope it brings us motivation and commitment for the rest of the season.”

To conclude the press conference, the Real Madrid manager praised Jagoba Arrasate and his team: “Mallorca are a well-organised side that defend very well and makes the most of the opportunities their players create. That’s my idea of what makes a good coach.”
