Athenea del Castillo reveals we us what she cannot be without from her World Cup luggage
Before the World Cup party for the Women's National Team starts this Friday, the players are carefully preparing all the necessary elements to help Spain make history in down under.
This is the case of the skilled attacker Athenea del Castillo, who opens her suitcase for us in New Zealand to show us her five essential items just before the ball starts rolling.
The young Cantabrian counts among her key footballing identity items a headband, with it being gifted to the fans once the matches have finished having become almost a custom.
"The girls always ask me for it, making me banners and everything -explains the star-, however this red ribbon to match the shirt is very special because it will be the one which I played my first World Cup in and it will live on as a souvenir".
The National team shirt, "always with the badge facing up" is another of the essentials for the soccer player, who usually wears shin pads with the photograph of her boyfriend, also a player, and a stuffed animal named Teddy that accompanies her to all tournaments: "It is very special because it is adorned with the blessed stamp of the Virgen del Carmen. A gift from my mother from the fishing district where I am from."
The Teddy bear rests these days before the debut after a journey of more than 20,000 kilometers that Athenea has completed with her pillow, from which she is inseperable: She says it will help her "To rest well and to be able to dream big during this World Cup", concludes the international.
