On the very day coach Luis de la Fuente celebrates his 63rd birthday, on Friday morning Spain travelled from their temporary hotel in Essen, where they bid farewell to the fans gathered outside their door, to their permanent Euro 2024 base in southern Germany.

After a flight from the city of Düsseldorf to Stuttgart and then on to Donaueschingen by road, the squad is now resting at their base camp for Euro 2024.

On Friday afternoon, the 26-man squad returns to training at the SV Aasen 1928 facilities, in what is expected to be a session orientated towards recovery from the match against Italy in Gelsenkirchen.

The players and coaching staff are clearly overjoyed after the win against Italy clinched qualification for the last 16 of the tournament, with the group phase to be completed next Monday with the match against Albania at the Arena in Düsseldorf.
