Behind the scenes with the Spanish national team analysts
Rubén Jiménez and Kiko Meléndez are the analysts for the Spanish women's national team. Their work, despite often being behind the scenes, is essential for the rest of the coaching staff and, especially, for the players.
The analyst's job, as the name suggests, is to analyse the work of each of the international players in each training session and match and to scout future opponents, studying their strengths and weaknesses and then sharing that potentially match changing information with each of the Spanish players in the build up to the match.
Rubén and Kiko record every training session and match our national team has in order to "analyse all the actions of our players through the images we show them and highlight aspects they can improve", says Rubén . With regard to the Spanish national team's next rival, France, "we have already done an individual analysis of all of their players," concludes Rubén Jiménez.
During each match, the analysts are "in constant communication with the bench, sending them video clips even while the match is taking place to help the coaches find the solutions that will help the team win," says Kiko Meléndez.
