Last February, Irfan Peljto made history by becoming the first Bosnian referee to officiate a UEFA Champions League knockout stage match in the first leg of the Last 16 tie between RB Leipzig and Real Madrid.

The milestone shows the international prestige of this 40-year-old Sarajevo-born referee, who will be in charge of the UEFA Nations League Group A4 second-leg clash between Switzerland and Spain this Sunday.

An international since 2015 and a member of European football's governing body's Elite category, Peljto will be in Geneva assisted on the sidelines by compatriots Senad Ibrisimbegovic and Davor Beljo, with fellow Bosnian Miloš Gigović acting as fourth official.

As far as the VAR is concerned, German Bastian Dankert will be in charge as video assistant referee, with German Katrin Rafalski also as assistant VAR for a match that will start at 20:45 Spanish time and will be broadcast live on La1.
