Brazil, the last hurdle before the Olympic medals

The Spanish national team are looking for a win against the Samba Girls that will take them to the final in Paris 2024 and consequentially, secure another medal for the national Olympic delegation.

A familiar opponent, a dream to fulfil and the Olympic medal waiting on the horizon. It is with these ingredients that the Spanish national team go into the match against Brazil, a team we have already had to face in the group phase of these Paris 2024 Games and whom we beat 2-0 in a tough duel, from strength to strength and which should serve as a perfect taster before the showpiece Olympic semi-final on Tuesday.

This is the last hurdle before Spanish women's football can celebrate the first Olympic medal in history, something that, if achieved, would come with our first Olympic participation. Veni, vidi, vici', as Julius Caesar would say.

However, it is not yet time to think about medals or finals because first we have to overcome the tough Brazils, an opponent that will be much more dangerous than in the group stage. The South Americans come to the tournament with their work done, with confidence sky-high after having knocked out hosts France, one of the tournament's favourites.

But Spain will go out, as always, convinced in their ability, with their recognisable style of play, with the extra boost of morale that came from the epic victory over Colombia, after overcoming a 2-0 deficit and an agonising penalty shoot-out. That match should be the turning point for Montse Tomé's side, who want to get back to winning ways to secure a place among the two best teams in the tournament.

In Marseille and in front of 12,000 spectators comes the next challenge for the world champions, who continue their quest for the triple crown. There is no rest, no pause, no fear. There is only excitement, passion and desire.

The ball starts rolling at 21:00 tonight and the match can be followed live on RTVE and MAX.
