Cordiality and mutual respect on the eve of the Final
Carlo Ancelotti and Hansi Flick met at the Al Jawhara Stadium in Jeddah ahead of the match that will bring the football world to a standstill for at least two hours: Real Madrid - FC Barcelona in the final of the Spanish Super Cup.
A clasico to put the finishing touches to this season’s edition of the Spanish Super Cup. The Catalans will be looking for their fourteenth title, while Real Madrid will be fighting for their thirteenth.
The Al Jawhara Stadium, which will host the Super Cup final for the second time - the first was in 2020, when Real Madrid defeated Atletico Madrid on penalties after a goalless draw - has been chosen as the venue for the clash between the coaches and their teams.
The two sides have shared seven of the last eight editions of the tournament. Real Madrid took the title in 2018, 2020, 2022 and 2024, while FC Barcelona won the Super Cup in 2017, 2019 and 2023 (2021 was won by Athletic Club, who beat Koeman's Barça in the final).
On Saturday, Flick and Ancelotti posed with the trophy on the eve of Sunday's final at 20:00 Spanish time (22:00 in Saudi Arabia). Both coaches have demonstrated mutual respect and cordiality and promised to put on a great show.
