Day of unity with fans to kick off preparations for Euro 2024

The Spanish national team held its first training session on foreign soil on Monday at what will become their usual training ground over the European Championships in Germany.

The stands were packed with fans wearing Spain shirts as the SV Aasen club’s training facilities welcomed the Spanish national team players on Monday afternoon for their first training session in Germany.

Erik Pauly, mayor of the town of Donaueschingen, where the national team has set up base camp for the European Championships, did not hesitate to don the national team's shirt to get the hype going in the build-up to the internationals' training session.

The vice-president of the RFEF, Alejandro Morales Mansito, and national coach Luis de la Fuente presented the Spain shirt to Mayor Pauly, who in turn reciprocated by handing over a series of local gifts and inviting the representatives of Spanish football to sign the book of honour of this beautiful German town.

On the pitch, with the sun shining and a mild temperature, the 26-player squad for the European Championships went through an intense training session, with emphasis on the physical part at the beginning and with a small game at the end.

Huelva's Fermín López had the honour of scoring the national team's first goal in Germany with a header in their first training match in Germany. Preparations will continue this Tuesday with a morning training session, followed by the first press conference given by the team since arriving in Germany.
