De la Fuente: “Although there´s a lot of room for improvement, I’m very happy”

At the post-match press conference of the match that marked his national team debut, Luis de la Fuente expressed his satisfaction at what he saw at La Rosaleda in Málaga. "Although we have a lot of room for improvement, I am very satisfied." "Despite the win, many things need to be worked on and there is a lot of work to be done," he said, looking ahead to the two days he now has to prepare for Tuesday's match against Scotland in Glasgow.

Luis de la Fuente began his press conference by thanking the Málaga fans for welcoming the team. The team responded on the pitch with lots of enthusiasm and goals against Norway in game that was not easy, according to the coach, but in which the team, in his opinion, "grew into the game".

That improvement could have been because of, among other things, the changes introduced in the second half. The substitutions had an effect, another thing that satisfied Luis de la Fuente. In his opinion, they had managed to show the "different ways of playing" that the team must be able to manage, having "players with different characteristics." The boss also pointed to the way "the players played as a team, just as we wanted to, and how we want to continue."

Finally, regarding his personal feelings on his debut, he was "happy" for the whole group, and that it made him think of "those who are not here, my parents". He also added: "I have always felt like a newcomer", and, as he said at the end of his appearance, "nothing is achieved without effort".
