At five o’clock in the morning on Friday, 15 November, Jordi woke up his son Nico with a surprise: a trip from Lleida to Copenhagen to watch the Spanish national team play. Young Nico had no idea what was in store for himself until they arrived at Barcelona Airport and discovered their destination. A few hours later, father and son were at the Spanish team’s hotel in Copenhagen, meeting Dani Olmo, Álex Baena, and Aymeric Laporte. Fate had a hand in bringing the young boy from Lleida face-to-face with his idol—and the inspiration behind his haircut.
The family, thrilled to meet their heroes, will be at Parken Stadium tonight to cheer on Spain alongside nearly 2,500 away fans expected for the fifth match day of the UEFA Nations League.
