FIFA meeting with World Cup bidding nations kicks off in Zurich

FIFA headquarters is hosting the meeting, which will discuss important issues in terms of organisation, infrastructure, services, government support, legal aspects, human rights and sustainability.

A three-day information sharing seminar for the bidding host nations for the upcoming FIFA World Cups kicked off on Monday at FIFA headquarters in Zurich, Switzerland. This workshop is part of the bidding process for the 2030 and 2034 editions of the tournament. For this reason, a Spanish delegation is participating, together with their Moroccan and Portuguese counterparts, as representatives of the joint bid for the 2030 World Cup.

In total there are approximately 35 federation representatives: in addition to those of the aforementioned joint bid, there are also representatives of the federations bidding for the centenary World Cup (Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay), as well as representatives of Saudi Arabia as a candidate for the organisation of the 2034 edition.

The seminar, which follows on from the meetings initiated by FIFA, will enable the federations' representatives to take part in interactive sessions and individual meetings.

As part of the one-off sessions, FIFA has provided information on the main issues relating to the bidding process for both the World Cup and the 2030 centennial celebrations, including organisational matters, general and sporting infrastructure, services, government support, legal aspects, human rights and sustainability.

Next stage: July

In July, at the next stage of this comprehensive selection process, the federations will have to submit their respective bid dossiers. FIFA will then publish the evaluation reports after analysing them. If the requirements have been met, the FIFA Congress will designate the hosts of the respective World Cups.

The bidding processes are based on a set of minimum organisational requirements, which are stipulated in various documents made public by FIFA.
