First working meeting in Las Rozas with Morocco to advance in the 2030 World Cup

The presidents of the Spanish, Moroccan, and Portuguese federations met on Saturday to make progress in the bid.

Pedro Rocha received the federation delegations from Portugal and Morocco, led by their presidents Fernando Gomes and Fouzi Lekjaa, at the Ciudad del Fútbol in Las Rozas. The Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) learned the details of the current state of the bid in the first meeting they participated in, being highly involved in the project to continue building an excellent and winning proposal.

Pedro Rocha, president of the Interim Commission of the RFEF, expressed satisfaction after the meeting: "We are advancing together with the goal of presenting a very strong World Cup project, which is stronger than ever with Morocco's integration into our teams."

Fouzi Lekjaa, president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, expressed his satisfaction at the end of the meeting: "We are aware of the great responsibility we have, as we are facing a historic opportunity. We will contribute our best efforts to a great team of professionals who are working very hard to achieve the goal. It is an honor for us to be part of such a strong and important bid."

Lastly, Fernando Gomes, president of the Portuguese Football Federation, stated: "We are convinced that our bid is very solid, and we are working in a coordinated manner with professionals to achieve the best results. Morocco will play an important role in shaping the bid for the 2030 World Cup, where two continents, two cultures, and a shared passion for football will converge."

It was also agreed that the next working meeting will take place in Rabat on October 4, 2023, in the presence of the Presidents of the 3 Federations.

 

FIFA will award the 2030 World Cup in December 2024.
