Spanish football celebrates a significant day in realizing its shared goal of hosting the 2030 World Cup

15 locations will compete for one of the 11 final spots in our country's joint candidacy with Portugal.

“It is the most significant national initiative Spain can take on in the near future”. As a starting point for the evaluation process of the venues that aim to be a part of our country's joint candidacy with Portugal for the organization of the 2030 World Cup, Luis Rubiales, president of the RFEF, summarized this Thursday in the City of Football the spirit of a historic day that brought together institutional and sports representatives.

The RFEF's president told attendees that "we are cautious, but optimistic" in response to the final election in May 2024 of the winning candidacy by FIFA, assuring that, thanks to the efficient and discreet work done, Spain and Portugal will be the only European candidacy to participate in the final election process.

The General Secretary for Culture and Sports, Victor Francos, and the Cabinet Director of the CSD Presidency, Juan Mara Fernández Carnicer, represented the Spanish Government at the conference, and the technical considerations were handled by the RFEF General Secretary, Andreu Camps, and the RFEF Director of International Relations, Jorge Mowinckel, who announced the fifteen venues that desire to be one of the eleven that Spain will submit in the joint candidacy with Portugal:
