Gavi goes faster than anyone: another example of precocity

Named man of the match, he becomes the youngest Spanish player to make his debut and score in a World Cup.

Spain's first match in Qatar leaves, among many other highlights, a fact that will go down in history. Pablo Páez Gavira, known as Gavi, can boast of being the youngest player to make his debut in a World Cup with the Spanish national team. He is 18, and as a midfielder, he has broken the record set by Cesc Fábregas in 2006, who made his debut at the age of 19 years in the tournament held in Germany. He is from Los Palacios y Villafranca and his performance was so impressive in the win against Costa Rica that he was named Man of the Match

Gavi continues to break records. He is an example of precocity since he made the leap to the elite. Being 17 years and 62 days old, he wore the red jersey for the first time in the semi-finals of the 2021 UEFA Nations League, playing a wonderful match in the win over Italy that took Luis Enrique's team to the final. Angel Zubieta, aged 17 years, had held that record since 1936, when football was still black-and-white.

Gavi's progression has been spectacular. The Barcelona player has been recently awarded the Golden Boy and he is also the youngest international to score a goal for Spain. It was in Prague in June 2022, in a UEFA Nations League match against Czech Republic. On the stroke of half-time, Gavi subtly made it 1-1 in a match that ended in a 2-2 draw. Until that day, Ansu Fati, aged 17 years, held the record.

The Andalusian has gained the trust of the national coach since his first call-up. He continues to improve and he is already recognised by the entire football world, in addition to this impressive record. Gavi scored the fifth goal after a perfect assist from Morata, which is the cherry on the cake of a magical afternoon. Obviously, he is also the youngest ever to score a goal in a World Cups with the Spanish national team.
