Bastian Dankert has been assigned as referee for the UEFA Nations League matchday six clash between Spain and Switzerland at Tenerife's Heliodoro Rodríguez López stadium at 20.45 (Spanish time) on Monday 18 November.

The referee, born in Schwerin (Germany) 44 years ago, has refereed more than 450 top level matches between the Bundesliga, German second division, German Cup and Supercup, Europa League and Champions League. The only time he has crossed paths with Spain was as fourth official in a World Cup qualifier for Russia 2018. Days in which Spain drew 1-1 with Italy in Torino. It was in that 2018 World Cup that he was chosen by FIFA as a VAR referee, a competition in which video refereeing made its debut.

Dankert was a head referee at the 2017 European Under-19 Championships, where he also crossed paths with Spain.

This will be the first time Bastian Dankert has officiated a match for the reigning European champions and he will do so alongside Jure Stefan Lupp (Assistant Referee), René Rohde (Assistant Referee), Robert Hartmann (Fourth official), Benjamin Brand (VAR) and Franziska Wildfeuer (AVAR), all of whom are also German.
