Jordi Alba brings an end to a brilliant career with the National Team

The full-back bids farewell to Spain after lifting the UEFA Nations League as captain and winning the Euro 2012

Destiny had a perfect ending in store for him wearing the National Team shirt: the cry of champions, champions. His last image defending the shield of Spain, on June 18th at the Feijenoord Stadium "De Kuip," is now part of our football history. Jordi Alba, wearing the captain's armband, raised the first UEFA Nations League title for Spain, the second of his career with the national team, to put a perfect epilogue to a legendary career with the Spanish national team.

On October 11, 2011, he played his first match for Spain in Alicante. At the age of 22, he became a fixture in a team accustomed to victory after winning a European Championship and a World Cup, and soon became a key player in achieving a new success, the Euro 2012, in which he scored one of the four goals that helped defeat Italy in the final and lift his first title with the national team.

In his 12 years as an international, he has played 92 matches and scored 9 goals. He has represented Spain in three World Cups, three European Championships, the London Olympics, and a Confederations Cup.

At the age of 34, Jordi Alba puts a final punctuation mark on this great international career. The Royal Spanish Football Federation extends eternal gratitude for this brilliant journey. Thank you, Jordi.
