Jorge Vilda becomes a centennial

He becomes the first to reach such a milestone of matches, and he does so at a crucial moment for a team that, less than a month away from the World Cup, dares to dream big.

With a record of 67 wins, 16 draws, and 16 losses, Jorge Vilda reaches his 100th match as the head coach of the Spanish Women's National Team tonight in Avilés. This significant milestone comes at a crucial moment in the history of the national team as they are about to embark on the tremendous challenge of crossing the ocean to compete in their third consecutive World Cup.

And tonight, June 29, 2023 against Panama, when Vilda has hit the 100 mark, in a match that allows the coach to dispell his doubts regarding the final call-up of 23 players for the World Championship, a list that will be announced this Friday.

Jorge Vilda took over the position in July 2015, and now, on the 8th anniversary of that milestone, he will oversee his 100th match as the national team coach after almost a decade in which the team is experiencing its most glorious moment. They have won the Algarve Cup, reached the 6th position in the FIFA rankings, and have not missed a single major tournament.

The final step remains. It's time to go for the star.
