Laia Codina: "This team is enjoying itself on and off the pitch".

Following the team's final training session in Spain, Laia Codina spoke to the media at a press conference to analyse the upcoming Italy game, Spain's next opponents in the UEFA Women's Nations League,.

She explained that both Italy and Switzerland will be tough opponents in which winning the battle for possession will be key: "They are two similar teams. We'll probably have the ball and we'll have to know how to use it and when to change the pace of the game to find the gaps and pick off the opponents. They are two teams that are going to close down and defend well

 

Focusing on the first of upcoming challenges, she stressed that the dynamics of the Italian team is similar to that of Spain and that they should not go into the match taking anything for granted: "We can't consider ourselves favourites. Italy know how to make things difficult for you".

 


Finally, she explained that the important thing is not to win titles, but to enjoy the process: "You can win games and titles, but I always say that you have to enjoy the journey. The key is to enjoy yourself both on and off the pitch, and that's just what this team is doing".
