Lamine Yamal: "Our motivation for the final is at its highest level"

Lamine Yamal spoke in the press room of the Stuttgart Arena (Germany) after the UEFA Nations League semi-final clash between Spain and France.

When asked about the Ballon d’Or, the two-goal scorer of the night insisted: “As I have already said, for me, aside from the fact that the most important thing was the match and reaching the final. The Ballon d’Or is for the best player throughout the year, but if it was to be decided today, I already said I would have no problem.”

Reflecting on the nine goals in the semi-final, the forward responded: “When two great national teams play, it can produce a lot of goals. They have very good players and can make you suffer. The important thing is the victory and now it’s time to correct those mistakes.”

“Before people already considered us a great team, we want to make history. The hard thing in football is to keep winning. We are going to defend this national team to the maximum. We have to keep going on this path and let people enjoy our game,” explained the Spain and Barcelona player. Regarding the final against Portugal in the Nations League, Lamine Yamal reflected: “It’s a special match. It’s another final with my country. These are the matches I want to play in and show who I am. We already played in the Euros final, it went very well and hopefully this one will go the same way. Our motivation is at its highest level.”
