The Last 16 of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE, played on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, produced excitement, spectacle, 34 goals and eight Primera division teams advancing to the quarter-finals.

The Copa del Rey MAPFRE served up a Last 16 with great clashes, excitement and 34 goals in which eight First Division teams have advanced to the next round.
The draw for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE will take place next Monday, 20 January, at 13.00.
The last team to reach the quarter-finals was Real Madrid CF after beating RC Celta de Vigo (5-2) in extra time at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Galicians never gave up hope despite coming back from two-nil down after goals from Kylian Mbappé and Vini Jr. In the closing stages of the game, goals from Bamba and a 91st minute penalty from Marcos Alonso sent the game into extra time. In extra time, Endrick twice and Fede Valverde sealed Real Madrid CF's passage to the next round.
In San Mamés, Athletic Club and CA Osasuna (2-3) played out a thrilling Copa match in which the lions came from behind after goals from Aimar Oroz and Budimir, from the penalty spot, with goals from Nico Williams and De Marcos turning the match on its head. However, the home side were unable to resist the visitors, who were able to suffer when needed, make the most of their chances and get the third goal, again from Budimir in the 70th minute to kill off any chance of a famous comeback victory for Bilbao. Osasuna advanced to the quarter-finals and eliminated the reigning champions. Real Sociedad overcame Rayo Vallecano at the Reale Arena (1-3) with goals from Oyarzabal, Olasagasti and Sergio Gómez from a free kick. Imanol's men dominated the team from Vallecas in front of a home crowd that is once again loving the Copa del Rey.
Earlier, a thrilling Wednesday night in the Copa left us with sixteen goals, excitement and a place in the quarter-finals for four Primera División teams. Getafe CF scraped through (0-1) at the Pasarón and ended the dream of Pontevedra CF, the only team representing the Second Federation in the Last 16. In Almeria, CD Leganes (2-3) came from behind twice against the home team to win in a match of maximum quality that was decided by the finest details and some questionable refereeing. Luis Suárez and Lázaro, with a back-heel, scored the goals for UD Almería, while Altimira, Miguel de la Fuente from the penalty spot and Diego García, with their goals, gave the Pepeños a place in the next round. FC Barcelona, who beat Real Betis 5-1 with goals from Gavi, Koundé, Raphinha, Ferran and Lamine Yamal, and Atlético de Madrid, who beat Elche CF 4-0 at the Martínez Valero thanks to Sørloth's brace and goals from Riquelme and Julián Álvarez, completed a clean sweep of Primera División victories.
On Tuesday Valencia CF became the first team to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey MAPFRE after beating Ourense CF by two goals to nil in O Couto. An own goal by Fran Carmona and a goal by Sadiq, sealed qualification for the Valencia team.
