"As soon as I received the call from the RFEF directors and the manager, the decision was very easy to make". With this clarity and in perfect Spanish, Robin Le Normand explained this Sunday the sporting, bureaucratic and personal process that made him decide to defend the Spain kit.

The Real Sociedad centre-back said: "My values made me keep my mind to go with Spain, despite the fact that the French manager was also interested in my situation. Everything was very clear in my head and there was no doubt. I'm grateful that they have taken notice of me. I want to go with Spain, period.

A decision that he now celebrates after spending a couple of days with his National Team teammates, from whom "I have not received advice, but I have received an example. I have been very surprised by the technical quality that there is. Each player is very good and now I have to work to be a starter, although that will be determined by the coach".

The UEFA Nations League finals is the first big challenge that Robin Le Normand will face as a Spanish international, with the match against Italy on Thursday as an imminent challenge: "We face a world champion team that is always strong, but we have to be confident in what we do and we will work on the field looking for their weaknesses. We have to think that we are just two matches away from winning a title".
