"The Spanish national team has allowed me to fulfil my dreams and grow as a person," said Robin Le Normand during the pre-match press conference ahead of the match against Georgia in Cologne on Saturday

The international defender spoke about his career as an international footballer, underlining that "I have been in Spain for nine years, here I have become a footballer and I have become a person. Here, I have fulfilled my dreams and I have always been welcomed in the most spectacular way".

That dream as a footballer is coming true in a European Championships in which Spain has yet to concede a goal, an area of the pitch previously speculated to be a weakness, as the defender commented, "They didn’t speak well of the back line, or even about the whole squad. We don't listen to what people say on the outside. Before the European Championships nobody trusted us and now it seems like we're going to win it no matter what. We have to be humble and go for every ball out on the pitch".

This is the feeling in the camp going into the first all-or-nothing match of the tournament against Georgia in the Last 16, where "we have to keep a cool head. Tomorrow, it will be a totally different game to the group stage. We're going in with a lot of confidence, but we know it's going to be a tough game.

The speed of the Caucasian forwards, coupled with the talent of players like Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, puts the centre-back on alert, saying "I can’t think about being on a yellow card. We have a very complete squad of players and whatever happens, happens.

"Georgia are a team who know what their game plan is," warns Le Normand, who is eager to continue making his dreams come true in the the famous colours of Spain at this European Championships: "I have been lucky enough to win a title with the national team and I will continue to try to repay the confidence they show in me," he said.
