The president of the RFEF, Rafael Louzán, met on 20 June with the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, as part of the international FIFA summit held in Miami, coinciding with the Club World Cup taking place in the United States.

During the meeting, both leaders discussed various issues, including the organisation of the 2030 World Cup, which will unite six countries and three continents through the sport of football.

“In this lengthy meeting we addressed topics related to the 2030 World Cup and we also made ourselves available to FIFA to host international events in Spain, given that in recent decades none have been held in our country in futsal, beach football or male and female youth football,” said Louzán.

“The FIFA president appreciated that there is now the necessary stability to work positively with the Spanish Federation. I want to thank him for his openness towards Spain, he holds great affection for our country and now months of work begin to coordinate many aspects with FIFA,” he stated. “I relate strongly to Infantino, we have similar working styles,” the RFEF president added.

Previously, the president attended, together with the RFEF general secretary, Álvaro de Miguel, and the International Director, Eddy Dervisajh, the FIFA meeting attended by representatives from more than 50 countries. The meeting addressed competitions organised by football’s governing body, the development of women’s football and the youth academies that FIFA wishes to launch, as well as the significant economic impact of the sport.

“We are very pleased to participate in such an active manner, considering the appreciation and affection shown to the Spanish Federation from FIFA and other international federations,” Louzán concluded.
