Nearly a thousand school-age athletes, coaches and referees attended the presentation of the 'School of Values' project of the Biscayan Football Federation, an event that was attended by the current national manager, Luis de la Fuente, who was accompanied by Vicente del Bosque, the manager who won the 2010 World Cup and the 2012 European Championship with the Spanish national team. One of the objectives of this project is to eradicate violence in youth football.
De la Fuente, in his speech, stressed the importance of "respect and not being afraid of failure, it is a word that does not exist in my vocabulary. You never fail when you give your best, when you put your heart into what you do and work hard. That way it is impossible to lose. You may not win because there is also a rival in front of you, but what is clear is that you don't lose when you give your all.
De la Fuente: "It is important to demonstrate good conduct both to our teammates and to the manager, without forgetting the rival and the figure of the referee".
Another aspect that the national manager put on the table referred to the importance of "demonstrate good behavior both to our teammates and to the manager, without forgetting the opponent or the figure of the referee. If we are capable of that, everything will work much better for us in life".
Vicente Del Bosque stressed the need to "know from a very early age that not everything goes in football. Goals and victories are important, but we must be able to teach that there are neither starters nor substitutes. We must eradicate negative attitudes towards the coach when a player does not play or is substituted; the player who enters the field is a teammate who must also be respected. Professional players are references for young people and everything they do is very important, both the good and the bad".
The event was conducted by Francisco Rodríguez Alvar and was also attended by José Ángel Labrador, vice-president of the Biscayan Football Federation.
