Luis de la Fuente named World’s Best National Team Coach for the second consecutive year
Luis de la Fuente has ended 2025 with another major accolade. The coach from La Rioja has been named, for the second year in a row, the world’s best men’s national team coach according to the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History & Statistics).
De la Fuente topped the 2025 annual ranking with 136 points, clearly outperforming other top-level managers such as Roberto Martínez and Lionel Scaloni, the latter having won the award in the 2022 and 2023 editions.
This year, the national team secured qualification for the 2026 World Cup after a brilliant campaign. Spain surpassed the all-time record for national team unbeaten runs by going 31 official matches without defeat, and also returned to the top spot in the FIFA rankings. All of these achievements have led Luis de la Fuente to receive this new award, further cementing his status as one of the most influential coaches in international football today.
