Luis de la Fuente: "These players will lead us to win a title"

The national manager has assessed the list of players called up for the final four of the UEFA Nations League: "We are doing the right things to achieve success".

"Whenever a list is made, it is made to win, but this one more than ever". With a resounding message and conviction in Spain's chances, the national manager has assessed this Friday the call-up of 23 players with whom the national team will face this month the final phase of the UEFA Nations League.

Luis de la Fuente answered questions from journalists by first sending a message of congratulations to Sevilla FC for their victory in the final of the Europa League, as well as offering his support to the Spanish international Sergio Rico, recently hospitalized after a serious accident.

Regarding the two matches that the national team will face this June, the coach from La Rioja said he feels "responsible, but not nervous. Of course I feel pressure, but the same as when I played football. We go over and review all the details. There is no margin for error", he said, adding that "the first to analyze and be self-critical is myself and I am convinced that we will be better now".

Regarding the changes made compared to the previous list, De la Fuente pointed out that "every context is different. We make changes based on the circumstances. We bring in the players we know will perform well. I think we have made a perfect list to face these two important matches".

For this reason, he assured that "I don't mind the criticism. I know where I come from. I'm excited to be able to choose these 23 players who can help us win a title".

The return of Jesús Navas and Canales, the thanks to the RFEF's legal services for the nationalization process of Robin Le Normand, the total support for the work done by the president, the sporting director and the players, and the appreciation of the coaching staff were other issues addressed by the coach, convinced of Spain's success in this outcome of the UEFA Nations League, but solid in his values: "You have to earn recognition day by day," he said.
