Luis de la Fuente: "This generation of footballers is an example for society."

The national team coach highlighted his excitement at winning the European Championships, after a great performance from his team.

After a perfect tournament, Luis de la Fuente said he had always had full confidence in the team from the start of the tournament. He also said he was "very happy" for all the Spanish players and stressed that this "family" can still grow a lot further.

He also insisted that he had always felt his players had the confidence required and believed they could win from the outset. Another point he wanted to stress was the human values of this national team squad, saying, "these players are an example to society.

The national coach has emphasised the continuity of an idea. A style of play that he insists his players have been able to evolve to perfection. He also highlighted the positive contributions of Morata and Oyarzabal.

He concluded the press conference by saying that today was a day of celebration for the whole of Spain. He also took the opportunity to congratulate Carlos Alcaraz, who won Wimbledon this afternoon.
