Luis de la Fuente: "We are playing for the prestige and the future of Spanish football"

The national coach warns of Georgia's difficulty ahead of Friday's qualifier in Tbilisi: "They have the best generation in their history."

In what will be his first match as head coach after winning the UEFA Nations League last June, Luis de la Fuente faces a qualifying match in Georgia this Friday, which he describes as "tough and complicated, just like the one we had last time here. They have grown a lot in recent years, and it will be difficult, but our players are prepared. We will enjoy it and try to achieve a good result."

It is worth noting that the Rioja-born coach has quite a bit of experience in matches against the Caucasian team, so he points out that "I know Georgian football very well because I was here with the U-19 and U-21 national teams. They have a great generation, I would say the best in their history. It has always been tough for us to win here, and now we know that to achieve it, we must give our best version."

The noticeable quality of the opposing players is something that the coach is well aware of, although "I always like to emphasize the value of the team. I believe that individual talents serve the group, and Georgia is no different. We have some players missing, but we will compete, be supportive, and understand that it's not a final, but a very important match."

For all these reasons, De la Fuente asks for trust in the National Team players, whose "attitude moves me and makes me feel very calm because they are the best to be here. We want all of Spain to be very proud of these players because in this qualifying phase, we are playing for the prestige and the future of our football," he concluded.
