Minutes before the last training session at Hampden Park, the national coach said he is optimistic ahead of the match that will decide Tuesday the first place in the qualifying group for the next European Championship.

Luis de la Fuente is calm about the challenge because "we are prepared to face any scenario and any situation", and also because "there are many positive aspects considering that we have only trained for five days, which makes us very optimistic for the future because the players understand the message we are sending them".

Scotland, who have just beaten Cyprus in the first matchday, are an imminent challenge, but the coach from La Rioja is cautious: "Scottish football has evolved a lot. It is no longer the classic direct game of the past. Scotland now plays with width and depth, plus they have most of their players in major championships like the Premier. Therefore it is an important and difficult game against an opponent with very good players".

Taking a step forward is now the main objective for the Spanish internationals, praised by their coach during the press conference in which he sees "a committed, involved and excited team. I see them hungry and eager to consolidate an idea that we hope will take us very high. We know the path we want to take," he concluded emphatically.
