Beaming from ear to ear, Luis de la Fuente entered the Limassol Stadium press room to speak to the media in Cyprus. The national coach began by sending a message of encouragement to Yeremy Pino regarding his recent cruciate injury.

De la Fuente gave his analysis of the match and commented that he is proud of both his players and their performance, "I am delighted and grateful to all the players for the effort they put in. I think that looking at the game as a whole it was a classic match against a team good at playing at home. You have to know how to be professional to solve the problems they pose really quickly".

After being asked about today's debutants - Grimaldo, Aleix García and Rodrigo Riquelme - he said he was proud to have added to the list of players wearing the Spain shirt for the first time.

When asked about Mikel's injury, he commented that "we have to wait to see the test results" but that the shock of the injury had an effect on Spain's play.

Regarding Yamal, he said that he had done "an exceptional job", that he was talented and that he had helped the team to "open the scoring".

To end the press conference, Luis de la Fuente stressed a message that accompanies him in every appearance and that is that "you always have to keep improving".
