Luis Medina Cantalejo: "We want an agile, fast and precise arbitration"

The president of the CTA and the director of the VAR Project, Carlos Clos Gómez, have presented the semi-automated offside detection technology in Riyadh: "It helps arbitration and helps football"

The eve of the start of the Spanish Supercopa, Riyadh witnessed the presentation of a cutting-edge tool that allows this competition to become a pioneer in applying technology to refereeing.

Through the semi-automated detection of offside, the refereeing teams will be able to point out these actions in a faster and more efficient way, as the president of the CTA and the director of the VAR Project explained on Tuesday.

Luis Medina Cantalejo has pointed out that it is a system already used by FIFA during the last World Cup and that it will help make "refereeing more agile, fast and efficient".

"For this Spanish Supercopa we have three international referees of the highest level"

"After using the goal/no-goal technology three years ago in Jeddah, now we will use a pioneering system in a domestic competition", stressed Carlos Clos Gómez, emphasizing that "it is an aid to arbitration and an aid to football".

Both managers have confirmed that explanatory meetings have been held with the participating clubs to present this technology, which was publicly shown to informants on Tuesday through a descriptive video.

In addition, in response to the journalists, Luis Medina Cantalejo has addressed different current issues regarding refereeing, stating that for the Supercopa that is about to start "we have three international referees of the highest level."

"We must protect the players and minimize the risk of injury," Medina requested, recalling in turn "the criteria on the hands and the rest of the application of the regulations is the same for everyone and identical from the beginning of the season." "The level of hits is much higher than the level of errors, although you always have to try to improve", concluded the president of the CTA.
