Luis Rubiales, five years of service to Spanish football.

On May 17, 2018, he acceded to the presidency of the RFEF, leading a global modernization project from all spheres

On May 17, 2018, Luis Rubiales acceded to the presidency of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, committed from the first moment to promote and improve national football from all its areas. It has been five years of modernization, five years of intense work and achievements, consolidating the RFEF as one of the best federations in the world based on remarkable management.

Throughout this process, very courageous decisions have been taken, with changes in the competition formats, always thinking of building from the base. There is a new Copa del Rey, much more supportive and exciting, the Spanish Super Cup has once again become an attractive tournament for clubs and non-professional football has also adapted to the new times.

Women's football has taken off, with stupendous results and with the senior national team, which this summer will play in the World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, reaching sixth place in the FIFA ranking. Here there are also new and much more interesting competition formats.

Spanish refereeing is a world reference, with the implementation of VAR and semi-automatic offside in this mandate. It is, in short, a higher-ranking body, with women also gaining well-deserved professional recognition.

In the area of management, the economic take-off has been fast-paced, going from a budget of 146 million to more than 400 million, leaving the RFEF as the second federation in the world. Luis Rubiales has also promoted the eVolution Plan, with a commitment of more than 35 million euros in aid to the territorial federations.

The RFEF has developed an ambitious strategic plan, meeting objectives within a comprehensive action program. Thousands of students pass through the Ciudad del Fútbol de Las Rozas, with training being a non-negotiable commitment in which technicians, coaches and other groups receive the RFEF's seal of excellence.

The Federation has proven to have an enormous capacity to organize top-level events, such as the 2018 Copa Libertadores, the 2020 Women's Champions League finals, the 2022 UEFA Europa League final or Euro 2020 with La Cartuja as the main stage.

In these five years, the men's national team has regained its status, reaching the semi-final of Euro 2020, reaching the final of the UEFA Nations League 2021 and qualifying for next summer's edition of the same tournament.

In futsal, the men's national team won bronze at the 2022 European Championship and three women's European Championships (2019, 2021 and 2023) in a row. Beach football, to close the circle, has not ceased to give good news in both men and women.

There have been numerous successes in the youth categories, with the RFEF being a reference in the training model, and the quarry is cared for with numerous events in collaboration with the regional and autonomous regions, where the youngest are the protagonists.

And, on the horizon, a dream, the 2030 World Cup, a wonderful project that Morocco has now joined to promote a bid of the highest level.

Since Luis Rubiales became president, the Federation is, in essence, a more supportive and inclusive entity and, from the demands of the day to day, there are numerous challenges to be met.
