The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation, Luis Rubiales, attended a working meeting this Thursday at the headquarters of the Consejo Superior de Deportes (CSD) in which the vice-president of the European Commission and Commissioner for the Protection of the European Lifestyle, Margaritis Schinás, and the president of the CSD, José Manuel Franco, were present.
The meeting served to analyze various current sports issues, taking the Spanish model as a reference, and also discussed the new Sports Law and the implementation of European funds in the field of sports.
President Rubiales was able to share his opinions with Margaritis Schinás and the other participants, a very interesting meeting with authoritative voices of national sport. The summit was attended by Alejandro Blanco, President of the Spanish Olympic Committee; Miguel Carballeda, President of the Spanish Paralympic Committee; Jorge Garbajosa, President of the Spanish Basketball Federation; Juan Carlos Martín, President of the Royal Spanish Rugby Federation; Gonzaga Escauriaza, President of the Royal Spanish Golf Federation; and Raul Chapado, President of the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation.
The acting director of the European Commission Representation in Spain, Lucas González; the director of the CSD Cabinet, Juan María Fernández Carnicer; the deputy director general for Women and Sport of the CSD, Bárbara Fuertes; and María Luisa Llano-Cardenal, member of the Cabinet of the vice-president of the EC, also attended the meeting.
