Luis Rubiales presents the commemorative medals to the members of the Olympic Team in Tokyo

18 members of the expedition received the gift presented by the President on behalf of the RFEF

Spain was Olympic football runner-up in Tokyo 2020; a feat that had as protagonists, in addition to the players and the current manager, Luis de la Fuente, a whole group of people who made possible the work of those days that ended with that silver medal.

This Monday, the president of the RFEF, Luis Rubiales, presented 18 members of that delegation with medals commemorating the success they were part of.

The people who have received this commemorative medal are:

  • José Manuel Molina Maza, Head of the Delegation.
  • Luis de la Fuente, Manager
  • Santi Denia, National Coach
  • Francisco J. Hernández, National Team Coordinator
  • José Lana, Analyst
  • Miguel Ángel España, Goalkeeping Coach
  • Carlos Rivera, Physical Trainer
  • Carlos Cruz, Physical Trainer
  • Francisco Noguera, Team Manager
  • Paloma Antoranz, Press Officer
  • Dr. José Antonio, Medical Rodas
  • Alejandro Benito, Physiotherapist
  • Ángel Javier Ruiz, Physiotherapist
  • José Miguel Monje, Journalist
  • Jesús Acebes, Camera Operator
  • Pedro González, photographer
  • Guillermo Ramos, equipment manager
  • Carlos Fernández, travel manager

The final, played in Yokohama, ended with a 2-1 result in favor of the Canarinha (goals by Matheus Cumba and Malcom for the Brazilians, and Oyarzábal for our team); but Spain's career in that Men's Olympic Football Tournament was as remarkable, if not more so, than that runner-up finish. A silver with which the Spanish Olympic team equaled what it had achieved in Sydney 2000.
